DataStage Essentials Training

This course sits within within SmallNet’s Technical Training Track.

 

Objective:

For participants to achieve a basic understanding of the DataStage tool and be able build simple to medium complexity jobs. Includes the ability to load data from flat files to supported Databases. This will create basic DataStage developers.

This is the entry level course for DataStage supporting the development of basic ETL skills.

 

The course includes:

  • Features of IBM InfoSphere DataStage
  • How to build and run DataStage Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) jobs.
  • About DataStage in its IBM Information Server environment.
  • How to build DataStage parallel jobs that read and write data to and from a variety of data stores, including sequential files, data sets, and relational tables.
  • How to build parallel jobs that process data in a variety of ways: business transformations, data filtering, data combining, data generation, sorting, and aggregating.
  • A basic introduction to the underlying parallel DataStage framework and architecture.

 

Skills attained – DataStage ETL Developers will be able to:

  • Combine data using lookup, join, and merge stages.
  • Create jobs that read from, and write to, sequential files.
  • Make jobs that read from and write to a relational database using the connector stages.
  • Build jobs that process data using transformations, combinations, filterings, sortings and aggregations.
  • Conduct searches and impact analyses.
  • Produce job reports.
  • Construct DataStage users.
  • Administer the DataStage environment.
  • Use performance and estimation tools.
